Hi, Just a quick question as I am loosing my mind here... earlier this week I purchased £260 worth of computer equipment from Currys online...
The items have been delivered but no VAT receipt, so I contacted them through their online contact form asking for a VAT receipt for my purchase...
I have just had a reply back from some one in their "Knowhow" department, claiming that they do not issue VAT receipts for online purchases only instore purchases?? They then for some reason went on to point me towards a VAT 407 form, which as far as I am aware is to claim back VAT on exported items).. no idea why they suggested this as I'm a UK VAT registered business and so are they??
I was always led to believe that for purchases under £250 a retailer could give you a receipt showing the VAT number but did not have to break down the VAT, but on purchases over £250 the VAT must be shown separate...
On this occasion however they have not even provided me with any receipt at all for my purchase..??
Is this a another case of been unfortunate enough to speak to some spotty faced twit operating the "knowhow" desk that hasn't got a clue what he is talking about or are they right to refuse a VAt receipt or even a receipt all-together..??
Its for reasons like this I only use the DSG group when desperate...
