referring pages, inbound links and backlinks

I was emailed by a UK SEO company, and being in a good mood, replied to their offer of a free report on my site. www.energybrokers.co.uk

They sent me back a pdf which contains less information than something like www.ahrefs.com. but at least it's free.

interestingly one of my most valuable links is from @fisicx on his www.testblog.co.uk site, which is great.. However the report was also missing a lot of links that I know are there. I queried this with them and received the following:

"Thank you for your reply, the report will not be taking into account referring pages and inbound links, in total there are 186 backlinks."

I asked them what the difference is between inbound links/backlinks, but no reply yet. Aren't they the same thing?

Yes they are the same thing! Referring pages is difference. If one page linking twice to the same page then it counts 2 in back-links while 1 in referring pages. The more referring pages, it is better.
There is no tool available which reports 100% of your link. :)
