Recommendation for Magento hosting

What are you looking to gain from the change?

I ask because there's nothing unique about Magento which should warrant a specialised hosting company - any managed hosting provider comfortable with the LAMP [LNMP] stack should be able to set up something suitable for your website's traffic with cache storage.

However if you're looking for a company which can assist more at the application layer (e.g. development and debugging tasks), then perhaps you're looking for a Magento development studio which also provides hosting services?

If you think about Magento 2 which has been required MySQL 5.6 then you could try VPS hosting that gives more control and better accessibility. Also, blue host, Hostgator shared web hosting for Magento.

A vanilla recommendation just to get VPS hosting is pretty useless. Lets look at the facts;

- Yes, some VPS plans may have more resources than a Shared plan
- The learning curve required to run a VPS is vastly increased than that of a Shared. You're moving down the server stack so who is going to take care of the system level and security operation stuff?
- Do you know how to size the VPS for Magento 1/2 and its particular resource requirements?

Better advice would be to look for those hosts who have specialist Magento experience. There are a number recommended in this thread and there are others. Running Magento is challenging enough. You want a hosting company that is experienced in this.
