My brother runs his own 1-man landscaping business, and is terrible with his books and invoicing. He does everything on paper and gets very frustrated.

I'd like him to start using an app or programme on his iphone where he could easily create invoices to email/print out for clients, and keep basic record of incomings & outgoings to then send over to his accountant to do the tax bit.

The emphasis has to be on simple - he's not great with computers and anything too complicated would scare him off!

Any advice appreciated, thank you :)

If he already has an accountant, it might be worth checking if the accountant uses any of the Cloud Accounting solutions such as Xero, KashFlow, SageOne, Quickbooks Online etc. This would allow your brother to carry out the basics of invoicing etc and simply allow the accountant access to the system over the web, to look after the more complex areas.
Most of the above have a free trial period and have either an app or mobile friendly web access. They will allow him to e-mail or print invoices etc and all are very simple to use.
I personally use KashFlow but they are all quite similar and super-easy to use.
They start at anything from £5 per month, so it won't break the bank.

If he's not great with computers is he going to be any better trying to do his accounts on an iphone. I truly mean no disrespect but wonder whether he really needs something very simple and basic rather than an iphone app?

I have a few clients like him who are happy to use email but dont really want to do much else and they find a combination of paper invoicing and VT cashbook (a free desktop accounts package) to record income and expenses works for them.
