Recomend SEO

Best place to start would be search on the word say "SEO" say in Google, since those companies coming on the first page of SERPs (not to be confused with Adwords) will be those that are doing a good SEO job. [SERPs = Search Engine Results Pages]

You mean the best ones at leveraging their clients sites for their own benefit?

Make sure whoever you choose you ask them:

1. How they build links (avoid forums, blogs, business directories)
2. Do they tie you in to a contract (avoid contracts)
3. Do they charge up front (no need to do this)

If it's a new website they be careful not to use those automation services, many based abroad because you can easily have your website ranking harmed and worse still perhaps sandboxed altogether.

PM me if you'd like any help, my company is a UK SEO Specialist but we also help UK businesses choose Internet Marketing companies properly and avoid being ripped off.

Whatever you go for, DO NOT go for an SEO company that provide you with "paid for" backlinks. Google understandably see that as cheating and they can heavily penalise a site for doing that.

They even have a form in Google Webmaster Tools headed :-

Report paid links

Help us maintain the quality of Google search results

at google.com/webmasters/tools/paidlinks?hl=en&pli=1

Andy Lackie on here is very good. His user name is RadiusBPO...

I just want to verify that I spoke to Andy - RadiusBPO today based on this thread and I can absolutely vouch for the fact that he really knows his stuff. I'm in a position of having to get out of an SEO contract due to the fact that I've had the wool pulled over my eyes from a company which I have overpaid and who have under delivered. So it was great to speak to someone impartial like Andy who could give me some honest valuable advice and point me in the right direction. So where I go from here? im not sure, Ive lost a fair bit of money, but it just goes to show that there are some genuine people in the business of SEO, you just need to know where to find them! Id never spoken to Andy before, he's not a pal of mine, he's purely a recommendation that I got from this site. (Sometimes I wonder when people recommend other SEO experts if their reasons are genuine - Ive become a bit of a cynic through my experiences in this field.) All I can say though is that if you're like me, a small business trying to get on and you need someone in SEO who knows what they are doing, give this guy a try. He's really saved my bacon today. cheers Andy.
