Re: My Posting Looking For Leaders

First of all a big thanks to those of you who have given genuine, considered advice and constructive criticism. No thanks whatsoever however to those who have branded me a "scam" or a "spammer". If I may I will deal with each issue seperately

SPAMMING: I was under hte impression that a forum was a meeting place to discuss any issues that might interest the membership - have I got that wrong. "Spamming" is the sending of unsolicited e-mails - have I got that wrong? If I am wrong in either case then I apologise unreservedly.

NETWORK MARKETING: As far as I am aware Network Marketing in the UK is a legitimate (if slightly unorthodox) method of distributing product to the end user. I certainly hope so as I've been involved for 8 years alongside my full time job as a Prison Officer!!
The main principle of Multi Level Marketing ( and here is where the blinkered problem arises) is that in any MLM company worthy of the name you can only become successful by helping those that you've introduced to earn whatever level of income they are looking for. My posting "Looking for Leaders" is correct in that I'm looking for people with the vision and drive to build their own income and that of people they know.

MY WEBSITE: Unfortunately Network Marketing still carries the stigma left over from the 70's and 80's of the American "pyramid" schemes (which as we all know are now illegal). This seems to automatically switch people off to what is in fact a very good opportunity for the right people. Therefore the website is designed to find out whether a prospect is interested in a second income, or even a change in career or lifestyle. The details of the business and any further information are either discussed over the phone, in hard copy information, or in person

Finally, just to hopefully put to bed this situation: If I am not welcome in this forum then so be it, but I am not about to apologise for an industry of which I am proud to be a part, and which has allowed me to spend the last 8 years at home with my wife and family. My previous background was Naval EOD, a career which has not only a limited shelf life, but fortunately is not much required in the UK at present. I could have worked abroad to find the extra £500 per month I needed but I didn't. I chose Network Marketing. The company I work with is an 84 year old British Plc that now trades in UK, Eire,Germany, and Holland (If you haven't worked out yet who it then feel free to contact me and I will elaborate!!)

Regards to all

Martin Saunders

Firstly, if the scheme that you are trying to promote is genuine and not in anyway a scam then I apologise for suggesting that this may be the case.
I am however completely prepared to justify my comments and assumptions!

Your original post entitled Looking for Leaders asked:
'I'm looking for advice on how to best utilise the internet to attract leaders to my growing Networking business. Could you take a look at my website bigger-income.com and let me know if I've even got it half right.'

Now on going to your website what I find is the following:

- a website which has very little actual content,
- which does not give the impression of being professional in terms of the way it's laid out and designed, logo etc (the design & logo side I can forgive, many peoples websites fall into that category)
- no 'about me' page - this continues my distrust further, as I would expect to know something about the people behind the website, you do have the introducing you bit, but it is immersed within the immediate selling of the idea
- no contact details besides a telephone number - which leaves me as the potentially interested party either
a) having to call up someone, incurring those costs without really being sure what the great opportunity is, and possibly ending up with the hard sell, or b) completing the online form and giving away my phone number.

All websites now are supposed to give their registered address or a contact address, and I would expect a website to at least give me some idea of who & where it is I'm dealing with.
- the web address for me also makes me wary, as the title bigger income smacks of a 'get rich quick' scheme name and again gives no idea of what the item/product/service etc is
- straight away then it's into the evidence of income, the image being a self created image, so not really evidence at all - I could create an image and fill that in to say that I earned whatever I like.

Also there is a word document, which again opens up to show images of cheques..to me this is not proof. Proof would be an actual photograph of the cheque (even then I'd still be wary) or photo's/scans showing
bank statements with those transactions showing.

Then there is a date gap, so there's 1 for 21/10/2005 , 1 for 18/11/2005 and then nothing until 9/2/2006 ...so a whole 2 months has gone by with nothing and as this is supposed to be the proof of £15k has been earnt in 2005 then why does it add up to £4546.30 (which is even less still when you discount the 2006 cheque)!

Then the dates on the websites are all talking about 2006 - we're in 2007 now so this should be updated - your last evidence is the image with a date of 9/3/2006, so what has been earnt in the 16 months since then?!

All the sums of money are fairly similar, so it doesn't demonstrate any potential growth is occurring, so far from 'owning my own life' it looks like I'd be working extremely hard and maybe getting £15k (if this can be
evidenced in some other way) without necessarily ever improving on that.

Yes there are loads of MLM companies Amway, Kleeneze, Avon, Herbalife etc, some with better reputations than others, in the main I find the people who operate these are honest about who it is they are working for,
they don't hide it away.

You say there is "a stigma left over from the 70's and 80's of the American "pyramid" schemes" and that "this seems to automatically switch people off to what is in fact a very good opportunity for the right people. Therefore the website is designed to find out whether a prospect is interested in a second income, or even a change in career or lifestyle."? Surely then your usp is to explode that stigma and put it to bed once and for all, and be up front and honest about the good opportunity, if it's right for people and a real live opportunity then people are not going to be concerned about the pyramid schemes of the past - or have any need to.

Your site emulates many of those 'look at my great idea, I won't tell you what it is, but isn't it wonderful and doesn't my porsche and mansion house look fab' websites that litter the net, where the only thing you get if you hand over your money is a disc and a website to set up selling the same message as the one you invested your money in, no actual product or service or anything, and the only way you get your money back
is to convice more people to do exactly the same an part with money so that you can send them a disc too...and so the cycle goes on.

Reading between the lines of your post, perhaps that is not the kind of website you intend yours to be? Maybe there is a genuine product? In which case there is a huge issue with the presentation of your site and
what it conveys and I would say that leadership talent you really desire is not going to be coming your way, a lot of those people will walk away and never look at your site again.
