Hi all,

I am basically a sole trader offering print and signage services. Aswell as embroidery.

I basically sold a customer shirts that i embroidered, i dont charge vat. They are asking me to send them my invoice from my supplier so they can claim the vat back. They understand i have a markup on the items. Im not sure i want to supply them with this information what can i do?

Any advice is greatly appreciated!

There's no point in giving them your purchase invoice because they can't reclaim the VAT on it. The supply of T-Shirts was between your supplier and you, so you are the only one who could (potentially) reclaim the VAT.

The way around it in the future would be for your customer to buy the T-Shirts direct and then hire you to embroider them.

There was a query last week about fencing, which raised the same issues:
