Quick question - printing

D

Good question,

There are different types of printers, litho, digital, wide format, silk screen, web, trade, commercial and so on. If they cannot produce something in house they will normally have their own preferred supplier.

If you can pm me with more details I will be able to assist you and will send you a quote.

Hope this helps.

Basically I want to start a design and printing business, I will design leaflets, brochures etc. and then print for the customer. so I won't be printing 1000's a day.
What printer would you recommend to start? or would I not get the quality I need from a home printer?

You will not get the quality you need from your standard laser jet printer and it will not be economical. You are going to need a digital printer to produce small amounts, plus if you have any finishing requirements you will have to do them all by hand.

As far as i'm aware...

digital for small qtys
litho for large runs

Inkjet printers are no good for leaflet printing, they are not economical for qty.

Thats us out of it then :D

Running CIS, with a decent head for low/mid print runs is super economical, using printers/printing companies for everything else is cool, however, depends on when you want to print and why...

The xerox waxsticks (cannot do full a4 bleed) range are excellent for 1000's as well :D

Xeron aren't inkjet and probably more economical -- how accurate the output is would be debatable.
