quick question about 1&1 website builder application???

Hi Everyone

Hope I'm posting in the right place, I have just registered my domain name with 1&1.

For the time being I am using their 'website builder' application and am hitting a brick wall when I try to add additional pages. The Home Page is fine, but when I go to the 'pages' button, the options to add etc are greyed out!

Has anyone had any experience of this? Do I need to upgrade my package? Or is there something I am doing wrong?

Any advice is greatly received!

Thank you

Hi

Thanks for the replies, I have tried using their help centre, faq's, searched on the internet for answers, can't seem to find any information apart from a few things saying with their basic package, you get 5 pages to play with...????

Any ideas?

Thanks

B x

I am no IT expert by any means, but it may be that you need to use Firefox rather then Internet Explorer. Using IE seems to cause problems with 1and1 which dont happen using Firefox. No idea why.

(Guessing here!! )

Are you sure no other pages were automatically created for you? Which you are meant to edit or delete...?

So as part of your 5 page allocation, they stuck up 4 template pages comprising of Home, About Us, Products and Contact pages... Then you've come along, clicked "New Page" and saved that also, making 5 pages in total.

Might be worth checking...

What issues have you had with them?

The "support" offered by One and One is without a shadow of a doubt the worst I have experienced in in any line of business - ever! I have a file on my computer filled with examples of the problems I have had with them over the last eight years.

I have several websites hosted with them and the only thing that keeps me there is that the prospect of moving them elsewhere fills me with foreboding. I know before I start that they will make it difficult for me and I face the prospect of my websites going down for an extended period and business being lost.

Choose any of the following adjectives and it will be appropriate in describing their support, abominable, amiss, atrocious, awful, defective, dissatisfactory, dreadful, faulty, garbage, godawful, imperfect, inadequate, inferior, sad, slipshod, substandard, the pits, unacceptable.

I have currently been waiting for a month on a reply to an email I sent them and I have resent this about seven or eight times. I know that I am faced with some sort of escalation of my complaint and that it will be very stressful. I do not know if I will get a solution all I know is that during the last eight years despite thousands of complaints they have made no effort to improve the support they offer. It actually gets worse as time goes by.

I would not recommend them to my worst enemy. But don't just take my word for it. Have a look at what you can find in Google. 1&1 support problems.

I'm with 1and1 and to date have had no issues with them, however I have heard people struggling with their support team.

I haven't used the website builder myself however I have registered a number of domains with them and I do know that depending on which package you choose depends on how many pages you can add.

It might be worth checking to see how many you are entitled to by going through the sales process again but just not adding your payment details.

Sorry I can't be any more help.

Have just looked at the 1&1 Domains sales page and this states you only get 1 page WebsiteBuilder included with a domain name...hence the problem you've encountered.

If you add 1&1 Beginner Hosting to your package you should get 8 pages to play with.
