Has anyone used quick books? is it easy to use? I'm self emplyed but I'm the only empolyee and all my sales are in paypal so doing my tax returns via the gov website takes a few minutes I'm wondering if its worth using Quick books if I'm the only person and don't have any employees.

Yes I've used QuickBooks its OK. Its very difficult to answer the question is it easy to use as I am an accountant, but I tend to find clients with no previous knowledge find it one of the harder ones to use.

If you are happy with the records you keep and arent VAT registered are you going to gain anything by paying a QuickBooks subscription?

I've used quickbooks for my previous limited company. It was OK to use, bit easier than Sage in my opinion.

For self employment I used pen and paper, then later on when I had MS Office I used excel.
For the government website the info needed is small so using quickbooks for that would have been overkill. However it depends what you need yourself - I was on top of income and expenditure as a self employed person so excel suited my desire for ongoing figures.
A more complicated business or one with multiple income streams may have been too complex for excel.

Thanks, I'm not VAT registered and I get monthly reports out of Paypal, it's pretty easy to go through the gov site and put it all in, until I get an employee or my business grows I'll be better off doing it manually my self.
