Query about wordpress for ecommerce

(I've searched through this forum but can't find an answer)

I'm fairly experienced at Wordpress, and am considering using it to create an online shop using one of the available ecommerce plugins.

I know they typically offer PayPal, but I'm a little wary of using this (please don't bother to reply to reassure me - that's not the advice I'm after in this thread).

The question I'm posing is how to get payment through 3rd party providers, such as WorldPay.

Do all the WP ecommerce plugins integrate with a variety of payment gateways, or do you have to use the one(s) they select? How flexible are they in this respect?

Does anyone have any recommendations or experience of using payment gateways through a WP plugin?

Have you search the WP Codex, there are loads of ecommerce plugins, there. I found http://getshopped.org/ which supports several payment gateways.

Thanks for the tips, I know there are quite a few payment providers to choose from, just looking for recommendations.

e.g. combination of good technical features and costs/support from merchants.

Also, what about the new "Verified by Visa" issues that seem more and more common?
