I agree with Simon, but it depends what im looking for. Sometimes we buy bits and bobs for the studio (stands etc) and we want durable but at a good price as even good ones dont last the full course but with Mics and stuff its defineatly the Quality first.

Totally product dependant id say

no point in just going for cheap...then ask why it didn't last or do what you wanted, or not as good as something else!!!

Quality within a budget, so buying the best you can get for your budget..
Yup, that's my rule too :D I don't want cheap rubbish - so I will get the best I can within my budget. Then I search and find the best price I can for the exact same make or model of whatever I am buying ;)

If something is too cheap or seems too good to be true then I am immediately suspicious... as a retailer I know the majority of sales I have ever done was for slow moving stock or discontinued lines and the same is true of the January sales, although with a little more 'desperation' thrown in this time for good measure :)

I usually have a budget. Then I want the best quality that my budget can sustain. If the quality is not available at my budget then I might well wait until I can afford it.

No point in buying below what can sustain a minimum acceptable quality.

I agree here. I would say "Quality", but Simon's expression of this is better.

"Quality within Budget" - then if it is a non-urgent purchase, there is always the option to wait until sufficient budget is available. In the case of something which must be acquired immediately, compromises might be made!

You get what you pay for, quality works out better value in the long run.

Afraid thats not true in the real world.

quality comes from being able to recognize it no matter what the price.

High Price's can be determined by many factors not only on quality.

Hence M&S may sell a cashmere jumper for £70 and the same product can be purchased from Tesco for £25.

Many cars are sold on the badge not the quality e.t.c.

Quality every time!

But quality doesn't always mean expensive. I need a new built dishwasher for my kitchen, if I buy a cheap crap one and it breaks in two years I'll have to buy another, I'll also have to get a fitter to get it in because it's built in. So spend the extra £200 to get a good one with a longer guarantee and in the long run it will cost me less.

This usually translates to other things in life (but not always)

there's my thoughts
