Hi All,
I am starting a business selling home baked goods via a market stall, online, and also in the future selling to small businesses such as Tea Rooms, Cafe's, Coffee Shops etc.

I have had a public liability insurance quote for a stallholder, but my question is, will i need to add to my quote because i will be selling online and to small businesses?

Hi Foshan

I worked for a small business Liability Broker for many years.

You will need to look at making sure you are covered not just as a stall holder/market trader but also as a Caterer. Once you start to supply to other business, tea rooms and such then the Market trader heading will not be adequate for you. Product Liability should automatically be included in a good policy but from what I remember AXA normally exclude it.

Another thing to consider is the amount fo cover you have, to operate on a Market you will usually need to have at least £5Million PL to obtain a licence.

try SimplyBusiness they are usually price competitive.

Hope this helps

Thanks very much LifeInsuranceExpert, I have already received some quotes from SimplyBusiness and they do look very competitive quotes. I see what you mean about AXA, they do exclude Product Liability.
I have had the quotes for at least £5Million as i realised i needed this, but i didn't realise that i will need to be covered as a Caterer, so your advice is very helpful. Thank You.
