Hi

I am starting a new business doing property inventories before they are let.

I know my main client bases will be Letting Agents.

Has anyone ever started a business like this?
Any tip on how to market to Letting Agents ?

Bang on their doors. They will already be using someone, why do you think they will change?

Hi Gavin,

I guess it depends on your budget as to how to approach estate agents.

If it helps, it's what I do for a living, and I usually have the most success of just generating a list of agents in my area, and systematically calling them all to see if they are open to hearing about our inventory software and pricing. If so then I either arrange to nip out to them for a quick informal chat or just pop them over an email with all the info.

We also provide software for inventory clerks like yourself, and we tend hear from them that quite a few agents are open to looking at alternative pricing for inventories.

Hi Dan

Thanks for the reply going to be based in Scotland. I am currently looking at software what do you use. I have made a basic flyer and letter I plan on sending to agents in my area following up with a phone call and email. Any advise on marketing would be great

No worries Gavin,

Well funnily enough we are a software provider for Inventory Clerks like yourself, so you will have to excuse the shameless self promotion!

If you are looking at software to help conduct your inspections then I would love to arrange a quick chat over the phone with you.

As for marketing advice. You could also look into Google PPC - it can get expensive if the keywords your bidding on are popular, but I wouldn't imagine they would be too bad, especially around Scotland. What I would say is talk to a PPC agency, because it is incredibly easy to blow any marketing budget you have on clicks you don't want or need if the campaign isn't set up properly.

Again, if you're open to an informal chat, drop me a private message and I will happily give you a buzz
