Pocket Money Designs

Has anyone experienced any success promoting the Facebook page for their business?

Seems like the days when people would accept any invitation sent to them are long gone.

Can anyone think of any inventive ways to promote Pocket Money Designs Facebook Page?

Hey PMD,

I'm Daniel and I manage all social media accounts for Smarta. I've taken a look at your facebook page and feel you need to be more welcoming. Social media is meant to be just that social, your page needs to encourage interactivity and conversation. Good to see you have a welcome tab, but fear it is immediately trying to sell to people that land on the page. If this is the impression that people get simply from the welcome tab, then they are very unlikely to want to continue on and become part of the group.

Good to see you are posting examples of your work on the wall, but try to add a little story to them. Tell people what was involved, what the process was and what you took inspiration from.

You could also try setting up competitions that encourage people to like the page in order to take part. Doing so will have 2 benefits, firstly they have liked your page, boosting your numbers. Secondly they are then interacting with elements on the page which are then fed back to their news feed for their friends to see. As you are graphic design business this concept would work especially well for you using the photo tagging feature.

Another method that may work for you is puttting together a facebook exclusive package that people are only able to purchase if they 'like' your facebook page.

Daniel.

Thanks for your post.

That's a good idea to add a story or the 'brief' as a caption. It might make an interesting read for people interested in designs.

I will start adding this over the next few days

I've got a facebook page (I can't post links at the moment but if you look for Libro Proof-reading you should find it) and I have a few following it, post links to blog entries, and some customers have put reviews on, but I haven't been able to whip up the enthusiasm I was hoping for. I've asked people to contribute pet grammar hates and that kind of thing, but nothing.

One thing that annoys me is that if a review is posted, a note doesn't go to all the people who "like" the page. I suppose this is to protect from bad reviews going all over the place, but I don't seem to get alerted either, so I have to go and look for them, then I can't share them, I have to do a wall post "ooh look at my review" which seems a bit silly!

Hope I can pick up a few more hints from here. If anyone's got any ideas on what I can post on the fb page, I'd be very happy to hear them. I do proof-reading, copy-editing, copy-writing and transcription, just to give an idea of the parameters. Don't really want to post examples of funny punctuation as potential clients might get the idea I'll mock their terrible English too!

Competitions are good, Like (or re-tweet) is one way to go though it can annoy some people. But any kind of free give away or competition where people have to join up and/or comment on your page will bring visitors in and get you page published on other forums.

Also just interacting with your followers as much as you can, helpful posts, jokes, taking an interest - its not called social media for nothing.

Best of luck with it.
