Promoting a Linked In group

I wonder if there are differing ways to promote a Linked In group other than the traditional ways, in forums, invites, blog posts etc.

I have started a new group and am doing the above as well as some others but does Linked In merit a different approach?

Here are some tips which will help to promote your LinkedIn group within LinkedIn website itself as well as from outside of LinkedIn also :

1. Send mail to all your Linked connection to ask for group join.
2. Tell them benefits which they will able to get from by joining group.
3. Set up auto set email for new members.
4. Implement LinkedIn group plugin on the WordPress website.
5. Do cross marketing through diverse other social sites means inform member of your Facebook and twitter regarding your LinkedIn group.
6. Convince or ask any industry expert or celebrity to join your group.

Apart from the plugins and cross marketing, you could also prefer to post ads in Facebook, LinkedIn, etc. This receives a considerable amount of response and that goes up based on the ads that you put.

- Why not to prefer posting press releases? Tho' it's a prevalent technique, this in times acquire a better response.
