Hi there, I have 2 employees that work for me and I need advice on how to keep track of their hours spent on work so I am aware what they are working on and when to set them new jobs. I have looked at various online project management software but have found them costly is there any free software out there for small companies? Or something that isn't hugely expensive per month.

If you need to track hours, you can use something like Toggl. It's free and you can create teams with it.

It sounds like you are looking for a timesheet/time management system rather than a project management system. Project management systems are more for planning up and coming work, while timesheets/time management is for time spent.

Personally, with just 2 employees I'd just stick to paper timesheets or a spreadsheet, or just speak to them on a monday morning and see what their workload is looking like for the week.

I would recommend Clockify. I've been using it for a few weeks and its really made everything easier. Can be used on a phone and laptop and the two update automatically. I have used bits of paper and spreadsheets for years but this is very easy and versatile.

I second Clockify! My whole team uses it and it can be used on the go. It is very easy to use, has reporting (which can be simple or detailed) so you can keep tabs on what time has been spent on what. Also, you can add it as a chrome extension!
