Profitable?

Hi,

I am going to import a toy from china. I found a similar one in amazon with 4.99 GBP. The price in china is 0.44 GBP for qty=1000, shipment to London is 323$. It seems the profit is very high but there are so many costs in the way. Then, do you think this job is good and profitable considering the expenses?

To answer this, you need to calculate the other costs. I am guessing shipping will be the main one. Get all the costs together and you will see how profitable it is.

But you also need to be confident of selling them.

About the shipping it is 323$ and I think there are some other taxes and VAT? About the sales potential, frankly I do not a clear idea and I do not know if there is any place that I could get reliable information. One solution is that I get some samples (around 10) and see how they will be gone.

You need to work out a final calculation for cost. How much investment to you need to sell it like if you want to sell on Amazon. Also are your Chinese suppliers genuine? How do you know they are?

put an ad up on amazon for your item, see how many orders you get.

if you get enough demand, buy them (700 isn't that much to get started) and place a new ad and sell them for huge profit

I think that is probably against T&C and also you would get a bad reputation.
What is the product?

If they are 44p and sell for a fiver i would order maybe 2000 and get cheaper bulk price reduce p+p but have you taken into account for vat on your itesms etc,
