I use 99designs.com to outsource my logo creation. Their website is very convenient in my opinion.
Basically you create a contest that lasts a few days and you choose the one you like most.

I paid €249 for the logo + €35 to prevent it to be visible on Google.
You have several price tags. Note that for the cheapest one (€249), the most applications you get are from Indonesians as it is probably difficult to attract Western Europeans ^^ But they can do quite a good work sometimes.

You can pay with £.
Note that their credit card system is not in Europe so my bank require me to pay an extra charge as I pay with € outside Europe. I do not know how it works with £.

They can do many other things, such as packaging creation, flyers, etc.

And how many of these entries did a business consultation, researched target market perception, competition analysis, concept designs, revisions etc? I'm guessing none.

Packaging design isn't simply a case of that fits and looks pretty, there are many factors to consider.

I agree that they do not do any market research or anything else. You need to have a precise idea of what you want prior to launching any contest.

Yes there is no competition analysis nor market perception with hundreds of respondants. But you do not always have the means to put thousands down for that when you are launching a small business anyway.

If you are looking for high quality fully bespoke packaging, I can whole heatedly recommend modo.co.uk who will guide you through the process of creating the package nets / working prototypes to prevent damage etc - they are not cheap, but experts in their field. Pink Storm Creative may also be able to help if you are looking for something that is a little different... We have worked with both in the past and have been very pleased with the results.
