Product Certification

I'm manufacturing a product in China to sell on Amazon and my own website. It is a toy, but not in the traditional sense.

I have now found out that the product does not have CE certification.

Is this a big issue?

There are different tests associated with complying with the CE mark and this will depend on the product, materials used and safety issues.

The age range of the toy will also have a bearing.

You may also be required to include your name and address, if you are the importer, on a label on the product.

My advice is to take a production sample and have it tested by an internationally recognized testing company (Intertek or SGS are 2 examples) in the UK before parting with any money for the shipment. These companies will advise you, after seeing the product, what certificates, markings and labeling you will need to sell in UK, Europe or USA.
