Hmmm. Good question. As a consumer I would probably say the gift card due to the flexibility but only if I knew and trusted the retailer and recognised the brand of the gift card (e.g. if something like Love2Shop).
A £50 gift card it would have to be for me. If you offer a specific prize how do you know people:
1/ Know what it is?
2/ Want that item?
3/ Don't already have one?
You see I don't know what the Echo Dot is, so would have to look it up to decide if I wanted it... and as it's from Amazon I will almost certainly won't bother (I use/buy from Amazon as little as possible), so wouldn't take part in the draw.
It was like at a business exhibition a few years back, someone tried to get me to enter a draw at their stand (I had already said I wasn't interested), and they said "First prize is an Apple iPad," while trying to push an entry form into my hand. I looked down at the form, then back at the rather pushy sales person and replied "I wouldn't have an Apple anything," and walked away.
