Private Forums

Hi,

For some reason I use to be able to post in the Private Forums and view all the posts.

But recently my permissions have changed, is there any reason for this?

No, but I was lead to believe that long term members wouldn't need to pay as I have been on here since there was only a handful of members.

Plus I did have:
...Fully Paid-Up UK Business Forums Member... under my name at one point.

I remember when my boss bought a 'state of the art' hayes modem, 9600 baud, cost him almost one thousand pounds at the time. Scary how expensive things where back then. Almost ended up setting up a wildcat BBS using that modem, but it ended up just being used for remote access / support on xenix machines.

Phone bills were huge, I was spending a few hundred a quarter on the internet at home, and getting no where fast with it. Now super fast broadband (well really really slow broadband compared to some countries) is available, and people think nothing of downloading gigabytes of garbage...

Oh yes I remember, my first introduction to the Internet was through Compuserve when they first introduced the WWW button to their top menu. Of course that was actually after they had migrated their software from DOS to Windows 3.1 !!! In the DOS days it was really boring but facinating how it all worked, but still expensive. I spent more time on MUD games through BBS systems than actually using Compuserve.

I remember my first modem was 9600bps and it did cost a months wages!
