Hi, don't know if this is the right place, but have completely stuffed up.

Not having had a lot of success with my website and being used to selling on ebay, selling only one of something here and overseas, had put standard postage, that would cover up to 2-3 light items. Now, after nearly giving up as I hadn't had a sale for 7 months, had somebody buy a load of stuff and the whole thing weighs 2.2kg. Does anyone know the best and cheapest way of sending it as at the moment postage is almost the same price as what she paid for it. :(

Thank you

Totally Sport is right, Parcel2Go will give you the cheapest price from the major carriers as they get better rates from them. Be careful which carrier you choose though.

Thank you, splitting isn't cheaper as the price seems to be up to 2/3 kg

Are there any you would recommend? Everything I have sent previously has always been small and light enough to go through royal mail.

Splitting might work so you can send them using Royal Mail: use this to get an idea of price sending via Royal Mail:

http://www.royalmail.com/price-finder

I think that, unless its printed paper, they'll (RM) will only send upto 1Kg.

To split using a courier will not save you money - just today I've sent out 2 boxes, one 16Kg to Germany and one 4 Kg to the Netherlands, both cost me £20 + vat.

Hi Oswas,

Thank you for your reply.

Sorry, I am going to sound a bit dense now.

I had thought about doing it by weight, but I am not sure how to do it, as most of my selling has been on ebay and only small, light items, where you can put individual postage. On the website, I don't, or didn't, understand how it works, how it would work it out.

Just had another look. So have I got this right? I have weigh each item and put it in attributes and when someone buys things, ekm knows how much everything weighs, does the maths and charges accordingly.

As for the links, If I click on them they work, but I do get an extra EKM Banner tool bar thing pop up briefly while it is doing it.
Is that what you get? Didn't get it when I first did them, I did them with the help of EKM. I changed some of them, not all. I have put, copied and pasted something in wrong then? :(

Just had a friend look at my website and the links and apart from the simmering granules, gets thrown out. Think I know what happened with the links. I had removed a product from the site, can't remember it, may have been number 1 on the list, which left 9 items, I added simmering granules at the end. Obviously didn't like it. Will re-link them.

Thank you for letting me know.

Hi Rob

Thank you for your reply

In the address, it's in 2 parts, I copy and paste the last bit. So I highlight from the second "youraccount.ekmpowershop.....................p.asp which is what I was told when EKM showed me how to do it. Think I am going to have to contact them.

That's the bit that is stopping it working - just use the simple file names as the links (that's how the other links are created), eg scrolled-oil-burner-214-p.asp

Thank you all for your replies and help. It should be working now. I will keep an eye it now

Hi its working here now. One more slight suggestion though, other than the breadcrumbs links (the top links as you navigate through products) there is no homepage link, nor dose the logo link to the home page. To some it might not be much but my browsing habbits are if that if I dont see a home link I usally clcik on the logo. It sort of gives the feel that the site is broke

Hi Oswas

Thank you for your comments, they are greatly appreciated, but you have completely lost me :|, it doesn't take much though.

I have been trying to work on the home page and it is better than it was 4 months ago. There are things I want on it or want it to do but don't know how. I have lots of people who land on it and don't go any further.

I was looking at it yesterday, I couldn't find the home page either. I thought when I first did it, it was where the view checkout is at the top but is now White underneath it. Don't know what happened. I had wanted terms and conditions up there too, it gets lost down the bottom but can't make that happen either. The text is pale and if I try to darken it, it wont change.

I like that site. Like the pics in the middle. I don't have a logo but had wanted a pic of an otter, but failed there too.

Thank you,

I have been through and now have added weights to the products.

Owas, (spelt it right this time ) I have now made the logo clickable. Haven't worked out yet why my header is too high up and what HTP means though.

Hi, just had a look and its looking good. Rather than move your header bar as it allines well with the rest of your site, could just change the colour of the text for home , about is etc.

I am not familiar with EMK, but where you would go to edit the home page layout do this,

http://wiki.ekmpowershop.com/Modifying_an_ekmPowershop_template

then look for mc_toplinks and next to it you will see the colour code #FFFFFF if you change the code to #9C68BD this will give it the same purple colour across your site.

I would suggest you copy the entire code on your page in to notepad, if your not familiar with html, so then if you notice an error after you have saved it you can copy and paste it back in as it was, and save.
