Portable tanning beds - How can i keep legal

Hi all

My partner is looking to expand her beauty therapy business by renting portable sunbeds out.

We have all the costs sorted, and transportation sorted.

We just need to find out how we can do this in regards to keeping legal, does anybody know where I can find out this information.

We will get the beds PAT tested, and we will get insurance for the beds, would there be anything else we need to do in order to start?

As well as insuring the beds themselves, make sure you have Public Liability Insurance - what happens when a user sues you for injury (eg. burns) caused by your sunbed?

This is a specialist Insurance area and the insurers are very tight on what they will cover and the costs can be high. They may not even be willing to offer cover for renting out sunbeds as you would not be there to oversee or supervise the use, unlike in a tanning salon.

I suggest you get a quote for this insurance as it may mean that the any potential profit will be eaten up by insurance costs.
