Moved this over from Legal, as it's probably more of an opinion type thing.
Hi all.
I ordered some embriodered workwear, and paid for it up front.
It turned up 5 weeks later, and the quailty of my logo is shocking. Noone from the company ever contacted me about any changes they had to make for 'embroidery purposes.'
I phone to register my complaint, to be told it would have to goto their MD to sort it out.
I phone every other day, asking for him, and once actually spoke to him, and he said leave it to him, he would discuss it with his designer.
No calls back. He is definatley ignorning my calls.
I am losing my rag now, and I know I can state the 'Sale of Goods' act to them/him, but stating something, and following it through is a different thing.
Where do I go if he refuses to refund me, if I actually get a response from him.
Or what do I do if I never hear from him. Shouting at the poor sales girls will not get me anywhere.

Thanks in advance for any response

Mat

UPDATE!...The designer called (not the MD) and asked me to send him my logo on a sheet of A4, (they surley still have the JPEG on file) and a shirt so they can look into it. I ordered them in June, and recieved them 4 weeks ago and have been trying to complain every other day since.
The above questions still stand though, What if he say's, in his opinion, they are good enough?

It is a sum return V effort etc.

Best return usually comes from goodwill and working together to resolve the issue.

If they have no interest then it has to be legal and the sum may be such that it is just not worth it.

Very annoying but ....

(It is why people trust national chains and not small businesses)

Mat,

We do work wear, PM me with what you have ordered and i will see if i can help - also if you send me one of the t shirts (or perhaps text me a picture of the logo they have done) i will get a respected industry name to comment on it for you.
If they hear that XYZ have passed comment that the goods fall short of quality standard it may add weight to your argument.

Some small companies ARE better to deal with that large chains.

Seems to sum it up. A good supplier will digitise the logo - you pay, but then you own files! - and send you both a physical and digital proof prior to commencing the production run.

then you will pay for garment, embroidery and carriage - don't fall for free set-up, it never is and is often dissapointing.

Most business owners invest heavily in the design of logo's letterheads and business cards yet seem to want the conversion to embroidery for nothing. Expect to pay £25 for a good job and don't forget to ask for both files - *.emb & *.dst then you can shop around for the embroidery and the garments.

We are workwear design and supply firm, we do mostly repeat runs, use a number of suppliers here and abroad, all differ in reliability and value depending on the value of your business. Sad but true.

Issue a small claims notice and move on :)

Agree with you Michael, free setup is almost never what it appears to be with embroidery. My designs are digitised out of house by a very good company, higher stitch counts but higher quality, some will pay for it some won't!

I hate businesses that do this kind of thing, I suppose they probably do it often as their methods of resolving the issue aren't that good!

The embroidery disk is the most important thing and your logo size can cost anywhere from £25-£100 to produce but like some of the others say it is yours to keep. We do simple text logos with no set up cost but on complex logo it pays to get the best as the machine only embroiders where the disk tells it to!

We also send out a swatch for all jobs so you can see what the logo looks like before we get the clothing embroidered! If there are any problems they need to be sorted before the run starts.

Its a shame they have done this to you and I can't beleive they haven't returned your calls. I bet they don't get much return business!
