Hi guys, Has anyone here used www.plimsoll.co.uk to get any in depth information about a specific industry.

I'm in the process of writing my business plan and i need to get some real data about my industry and the top companies in my industry. After some searches on google i came across plimsoll.co.uk as they have done a Fitness Equipment Industry Report http://www.plimsoll.co.uk/industry-report.aspx?Industry=fitness-equipment&rt=PPA Which is exactly what I'm looking for to give me all the data i need to create a comprehensive business plan for my new venture Xerxi Ltd.

Now this report costs £350 so before i regret spending this money on useless inaccurate information, has anyone herd of this company or used them before? And if so are they worth the money for what they provide?

Also Are there any other places that will give me the same data for much less or free?

I've used them before for Furniture Industry information. I spoke to them first and told them the kind of info I wanted and they told me the best report to purchase:

The report I settled on was top 700 furniture companies (Retailers and manufacturers) and received a CD (next day) and hard copy (via a link within minutes) showing one page of account details for each company with info extracted from their latest submitted accounts (Directors, Turnover, Gearing etc).

This info can be played around with regionally or in other ways to get the info you need and IIRC can be exported to Excel too.

Well worth the money and the price was similar to the price you mentioned.

Speak to them and find out a bit more about what the report is and how often it's updated - think I got a discount on the next one as it was updated every two years and this one was over a year old . . .

They didn't hassle me too often in the months after either (which I appreciated)!

Thanks James, that sounds very promising i was a little worried as i could not find any other sites or blogs with info about plimsoll and there service.
There was this other American site with marketing data for only $60 dollars a month but I'm really skeptical about the data on there. especially for my industry in the UK.

I will talk to Plimsoll then about my industry and get the best suited report they have.
