Please help with this insurance question

I am not sure if they are asking for details of a flood claim ever made, or in the last 5 years..what do you think?

Have you ever sustained a loss caused by flooding and have you had any other losses or claims at this or any previous premises during the last five years?

I read that as meaning that you have to disclose flood claims made at any time, whether in the last five years or not. Other claims only have to be notified if they were in the last five years.

So ever been flooded (not claimed,) if you were flooded but didn't claim and you state no then you could invalidate your cover.

had any other losses in the last 5 years (again losses not claims)

See, that is what I thought but when I went to add our 6 year old flood claim this was the heading on the next page...

You only need to tell us about claims that have happened within the last 5 years

Ah so then it is a case of bad wording. take a screenshot of that message just in case there is ever any comeback, as that is a material change set by them. If they have coded the site wrong, then regardless of that they would have to honour the contract

I would say that you should contact their representatives and try to find out the exact piece of information, which they wish to convey to you. I believe the meaning of this message might be inconclusive and they might be meaning something else over here.

Poor wording. Insurance companies are great at not asking their underwriters to be clearer in what they are actually trying to ask you!
