Planning permission for storage containers

Hi

I was wondering if anyone had any experience of renting out storage containers on there own land and how hard (or easy!) it was to get planning permission for this.

The situation is, we have a old car parking area (hardcore base) of around a quarter of a acre that we think would be ideal to put some 20 or 40 ft containers on that people could have there own key for and use as storage. The car park is in a secure area with people on site 24hours a day for security.

Anyone have any experience of doing this that could give us some pointers?

Many thanks in advance.

PS anyone know the going rates in Enfield/north London for this type of container rental and also it all sound pretty straight forward (buy a second hand secure container and rent it out!) but anyone know of any potential pitfalls?.

Regards

Make sure your containers are the type used for houshold staorage and not just the basic shipping containers otherwise you will have lots of unhappy customers with lots of damp and mouldy furniture. In plymouth containers rent out at about £180 per month, london depending on location around £260 - £360. Also you can provide your customers with insurance against breakin, water damage etc - cost about £8.00 per month per container - include for free in the monthly rental price, very good selling point.
