Pictures from Saturn

Hi guys

I know many people where would argue as to why we spend as we do on science and exploration. I am not about to commence a debate on it, but i stumbed across something which might be of interest to some of you.

Some of you might have heard of the Cassini Probe which left for Saturn some time ago, and the launch of the Huygens probe which entered Titan (moon of saturn) and sent back some fantastic pictures.

Well long after the press have forgotten about the mission, the Cassini probe continued to work sending back lovely images.

Ya liked the images from Cassini of Saturn, and revelled in images from Mars

for those who do not know, The Hubble Space Telescope (HST) is a telescope which orbits earth and can see further and deeper into space than any ground based optical telescope!

I also love the pics and sites - thanks loads! It would be fascinating to see Jupiter in some detail. Being our biggest planet, I'll bet they have some unimaginable thunderstorms etc. If anyone knows where I can view pics of this planet, I'd be truly grateful. Thanks.

Download smart fot for free and you can connect to a whole bunch of free ftp download locations. The password details etc are hidden so I can't give you them sorry

these probes are never direct.
Scientists wait for the favourable configuration of the planets before sending anything. The probes tend to visit other planets/heavenly bodies on flyby. This is to make the most of instrumentation, and of course to test the same.
The other reason of course is to act as a sling shot, the probe will orbit the body several times to gain speed before being "slung" onto its next destination.
This method saves both money and time.
Plus of course more images and data are gained on the way.
