Personal Bank Statements

On being paperless; it's a nice idea but:
My accountants, (or Dawgs, as Ltd Co.s) insist on paper bank statements when they do the annual accounts. How do you get around this?
As self employed, even if you submit your own accounts/tax returns, you are obliged to keep records for a number of years, 7 I think. If HMRC want those records in year 6 for instance, and you then have to go to your bank to get paper copies of statements, the bank will either say it is not possible, or charge you a small fortune, (£10 a sheet?). Which would add icing to the cake of HMRC checking up on you, huh?
I don't know if HMRC would accept printouts, and that doesn't save paper anyway.
Any views, esp. from our noble accountancy members?

You can see black and white on your computer screen, too, plus, paper makes no sense at all, because they arrive once a week, or a month, meanwhile I can go online and check my account even at 3 o`clock in a morning every day, transfer funds from one account to another, between banks, make payments, etc. So when my paper statement would arrive, i woulnd`t even bother opening the letter - I knew my balance already.
Another issue (I don`t know how big this issue is in UK, but here in USA everyone is crazy about it nowdays), with identity theft going around in all times high, I don`t want some crook finding my paper statments in a trash container , containing my account numbers and so....
As for accountants, they can get a copy of your statement at the bank at the end of every financial year, so it`s not a problem.
I still get paper statements for personal account, I did stop for a while but reerted back to it.Don't why really? Guess I like to see everything in black and white.

I only get them once a quarter, and yes i do everything online. I have identity theft protection too just in case, itts not just paper accounts at risk it has been known for bank accounts ot be hacked also.Basically I don't trust anything these days. I like a paper statement so I can double check evrything basically.Sometimes it is easy to miss things on your monthly online statements.Like the fact a certain bank took my insurance out twic in one month but I misse dit when checking online balances. I picked it up on a paper statement. And when iceland charged my debit card twice.sometimes I am so tired when I check my account online I miss things.
Its personal preference I suppose.I switched over as I needed statements for a remortgage. I couldn't save the online statements on my laptop as they weren't compatible with the software or something like that, so had no choice basically as I couldn't print them off for the bank.So I have no choice there.
As for my business account I can't access the online account as it won't recognise my password although HSBC say everything is fine and it must be my laptop, never mind the fact I have tried on several pc's now.My account just doesn't work online.I refused to contact then again as I was being charged for the telephone calls and couldn't understand them to be quite honest, or they couldn't understand me.Indian call centres can't quite graps the geordie accent which is very frustrating whne you are a geordie!
So I shall stick with paper thank you.
