Hi,
I'm a one man band bricks and mortar shop with a till and card terminal. I'm now trying to complete the pci dss compliance which it's saying I've failed on the internal scan though my pc is not connected to the terminal, no online payments nothing on the pc apart from accounts software and general stuff. We do not store data anywhere at all. so how do I make the pc compliant? All it says is to get my it administrator to instigiate policies. No mention of how to go about this. I'm so annoyed as I've been taking card payments for 5 years now and never had this problem.
FDMS what a pain in thebackside

We're with streamline / world pay whatever they call themselves now, with a good deal brokered by the FSB. PCI compliance is handled by them, and is fairly straightforward. Lots of box ticking on forms and a pain in the ar£e, but achievable....

Most acquiring banks (WorldPay, Barclaycard, First Data etc) have their own compliance manage system now for handling the annual questionnaire submissions and making compliance easier - for terminals and online payments. However, they should also offer telephone assistance if you are tripping up or just need something clarifying.

Hopefully, whoever you are with will be able to give further advice and assistance over what the online results are showing. If you explain how exactly you connect your terminal then I am sure you can get the result you are looking for (i.e. a pass).

Hi,

I'm exactly the same as you. One man band - cash till and card terminal. I was getting charged £35.00 a month non compliance. I didn't realise this at first so phoned them. I didn't have the correct software to log in so I phoned them. Basically I pleaded ignorance and said I'm no good with technology (pretty true to be honest) and I just wanted to get it sorted so I wasn't getting fined.

The bloke I spoke with did the questionnaire over the phone which took about 5-10 minutes and that was it - job done, compliant for the next year

Do you mean the phone line scan? If so, we had this before. simply unplug the phone line from the socket where it enters the building for 10 minutes, then plug it back in, once done request another scan. You can then download the scan results and attach them to the PCI compliance form as evidence. (I think that is the word they use, why they can't use plain english on the form baffles me).

Thanks for the replies,
I was supposed to get a call back about this to try and sort it over the phone but they never rang, no surprise there though. Im compliant till 2016 it's just the surveys they ask you to complete quarterly that I'm finding i'm failing on so shall wait till it's time for renewal and start again
