Thanks for that, but its not a reversal. Here is the email we got - not sure if I am worrying unecessarily but I have heard so much negative feedback.

I had one of these as they were investigating the person I had sold to, in the end as I had proof of posting the item and proof it had been signed for I got my funds. Sometimes its because they are doing a security check.

Paypal do this quite often, and instead of being clear about their reasons for doing so, they "hide" behind the label of "transaction review".

As others have mentioned, this could be anything from Paypal investigating the buyer, to the buyer themselves claiming its an unauthorised transaction.

Having spent the last year or so selling digital downloads online using paypal, I've had more of these than I care to remember, and I'm sorry to say that when you're dealing with non-tangible items (basically anything where you can't provide physical proof of postage, tracking numbers etc) then its almost a dead cert that they'll reverse the transaction and you'll lose your hard earned money.

Unfortunately thats just the way it seems to go with Paypal, they provide absolutely zero protection for sellers of non-tangible products or services.

Well folks, it was a chargeback.
The client, for whom we are still doing work, has advised he has not initiated this but when spoke to the bank, they said the card had been reported as stolen.
Anyway, we sent all the proof of works complete to paypal together with emails between the client and myself confirming the work was done, payment made an authorised.
However, paypal still decide togo ahead with the chargeback. So I will NEVER use paypal again. Its hard enough anyway being self employed but it doesnt help when we receive no protection of customer service from our payment services.
As for paypal, all the horror stories we hear are true and for that reason, we will not use them again.
