Payments received in dissolved company's bank account

Hi, I had registered the company end of 2014 but hadn't traded much or filed its accounts etc since I was working full-time elsewhere. Last month I went freelance again and asked my client to make payment in my company's bank account. Around the same time I spoke to a potential accountant for the company but found out through him that the company had already been struck off six months ago in May 2016! But by that time my client had already made the payment to the company account.

My bank account had been active but mostly small deposits to and from my personal account. This is the first time I asked a client to make a payment to business account in more than a year!

Now I don't know what to do? How to I pay myself? Can I just transfer money to my personal account?

considering the business is dissolved, not sure of how the business account is running/ active, unless you have not informed them. Not really to sure if it would be considered a problem if you had transferred money from your business account to personal? seeing that business ltd is regarded a separate entity and a unauthorized payments may be considered illegal or deemed as theft.

What you could do, not sure if it would be a problem,....rather than making a transfer from your business to personal, why not make a payment from your business account to a family members account and then tell them to make a withdrawal. At least that way if there was a problem you can say that you had offered the customer a refund on a job or something ?

Let us know how you get on

Regards

As he has mentioned they are not frozen

I was asking the person who made the statement 'I know they are not frozen'.

OP you might consider refunding your client, explaining that you made a mistake about the bank account and asking them to pay into your personal account. It may make you look like an amateur, but must be better than involving a family member as per the other poster.

If they are not frozen and the funds genuinely belong to you and not the old Company and you can get them then I see no problem with this.

However if frozen you will have to deal with Bona Vacantia and prove the funds were paid in error:

If your company owes no money to anybody or the revenue then the money belongs to you
I would bacs to your personal account now as it is unsual for a bank not to freeze a struck off business account Maybe your company is still active .

At the end of the day you need paying for the work that you did . Paying your mortgage and putting food on the table is important . If you pay you personal tax due on this money there is not a lot than can be done
I would record it as a due salary payment from when you view the company as running
