Payments over mobile phones

Hi All

Have you taken/ still take payments over mobile phones?

Have you had any problems with mobile spoofing?

I'm concerned with repetitive payments taken from different people, on the same mobile.

Can anyone suggest a good payment gateway?

Are you referring to Premium SMS?

If so you don't need to be concerned about "spoofing", at least not in the UK, it's incredibly difficult and almost unheard of in this country.

sorry to jump post :redface: .. I am also looking for a method of taking payments in person (ie at a trade show) via a mobile phone as we have a couple of shows and don't want/need to sign up with a mobile card processing terminal for 18 months for 2 shows but would like to take payments there and then for goods?

Hi Joanne,

I am not sure if Premium SMS is the right method for you, it's not really designed for physical products, it's more geared torwards intangible sales such as digital content (largely due to the fact that the mobile networks take as much as 40% from the transaction).

This is fine with products where you do not have an overhead per sale, as the conversion rates with Premium SMS have proven themselves time and time again to be as high as 10 times that of credit card - so you could actually find yourself making far more money on the whole despite the 40% fee compared to maybe 2% with credit cards.

However there is another mobile payment product we are working on which may be more suitable for you (with far far lower transaction fees), however it's still in development, although if we can get it ready in time for your next show, perhaps you could use it and provide us with feedback on how it worked for you.
