Pay Monthly Websites

Hello All,

I am currently in the market for a website.

The website will be the shop window of my business and is to be part e-commerce and part quotation request for bespoke products and customisation of standard products. The number of standard products will be between 700 to 1,000.

The site will have a lot of standard functions but some areas (I have been told) will have to be custom built (e.g. client area with the facility to release part orders and a quote request filter that will filter out the relevant combinations so that the user can quickly request a quote on the products that they are looking for). It also needs to be scalable and responsive.

I also require a CRM & Order Management functionality (I don't understand enough about web design / development enough to understand if these would have to be separate from the website or if they can be built in to it...). I have seen "Pipelinersales" which is a CRM system and Order Harmony which is an order management system, both of which I like the look of.

I would also like to take orders and payments online and over the phone.

The companies that have come back to me with a quote have suggested a Magento platform (great for CMS and inexperienced users (i.e. myself)) and their price for the work to be completed is not cheap (which I would understand. I have been quoted 6 to 8 weeks for the time it would take to build the site). Payments would be a third down as a deposit to commission the work and the rest payable upon completion. Price also includes a couple of hours training on using the CMS.

Does anyone know of any companies out there that would build a bespoke site but would take monthly payments or is there any other alternatives such as leasing companies (which i have just heard about, not had the chance to look into that yet but if i've been advised that I need bespoke functions then this may not be the answer)?

I don't really want a "build it yourself" website where you chose a template and away you go.

I'm not that technical when it comes to building websites but any response back in layman terms would greatly be appreciated.

I look forward to hearing form you.

Kind Regards
Martin

Hi Martin

We certainly have a spread payment facility, but we'd need to find out more to be sure we could deliver what you want.

We've looked at some of these site leasing options and while they might solve your short-term problem, they seem to be very expensive in the longer term.

Take a look at web-right.co.uk and if you'd like to have no-obligation chat, then just give us a ring.

Hi Martin, ongoing pay monthly sites are not the best option. While they seem to offer an easy way in, they are very limiting in customisation and some will not offer any easy way to export your products or data should you ever want to 'upgrade' to your own build.

There are monthly options for site building that you would own outright.
Magento is not the easiest platform for beginners imo, there are other CMS options out there for ecommerce that are much easier to learn. Woocommerce for Wordpress being one of them.

Feel free to pm me if you're interested in either Magento build, or Woocommerce, I work with both and can help.

Monthly payments would not be a problem either. UK based if interested!

Hi Martin,

I've seen a site called sites4trade dot com , they might be a good shout as they seem to offer full CMS systems as opposed to a website so you can edit the content etc yourself.

Other then that, sometimes it is best to go with a normal approach to purchasing a website, especially if you are using ecommerce too. The support generally is better and you can build up a better relationship I find then a monthly payment scheme.

Hope you manage to find the best solution for you.

Hi Martin,

As someone mentioned, usually pay monthly "off-the-shelf" website solutions don't leave room for any customisation as you grow. You may end up re-doing your website a little sooner than you'd like to.

Your best bet is finding a web design studio that offer the option of monthly payments. That way you'll be able to have a bespoke solution that can be built upon as your grown. Happy to talk to you about it if you have questions.
