Can anyone recommend a patent attorney? Location is not much of a concern as I'm assuming most can work through online these days. Bit of a minefield to figure out who to use.
This would come under engineering for a non electrical device. Thanks

Three years ago I was in the same position as you, looking for a patent attorney.
An acquaintance suggested a company he was using so I met with them and two other companies for evaluatuation and to obtain quotations. The company my acquaintance suggested not only provided the cheapest quotation but, more importantly, instilled in me more confidence of their abilities than the other two so I went with them.

I was granted the UK patent for my invention a couple of months ago and am now using them to attain grant of the US and European patents. You might find the following associated threads with advice from UKBF members of some help with the patenting process.
"Patent application drafting and filing costs"
"Grant of patent"

The company is Swindell & Pearson Ltd.
Ask to speak with Robert Lambton and mention my invention to him, "An oven splatter guard".

Kevin, I'm sure it would be helpful to many members if you'd post a link to the article here on the forum.

If every new member came in and started posting links to articles they have written the forum will just end up getting full of spam and links, which is why it is against the rules.

Once one does it, others ask why can they do it and not me, the forum gets flooded.

UKSBD, I'm struggling to understand why you posted the above.
No-ones asking for new members to be able to post links.
No-ones questioning the 30 post policy.

Just as a point of fact, Kevin's hardly a new member, he's been around for more than four years.

    It's not just a 30 post policy.
If any members (new or old) starts posting links to their own articles it will soon get out of hand.

    Now I'm really confused.
Your initial post referred to "every new member" posting links to articles they've written being against the rules. Now you're referring to "any member (new or old)".

I can find no rule which prohibits members from posting links to articles they've written.
Please let me know where such a rule is stated.

I repeat, I can find no rule which prohibits members from posting links to articles they've written.
Please let me know where such a rule is stated. If you're unable to do so please say so.

Do you have any comment to make relevant to the topic thread?

"Remember that it’s ultimately down to the moderators to decide whether your link is relevant or not."

The OP asked for a recommendation for a Patent Attorney, a patent attorney wants to post an article about patent attorneys.

You don't think there is a hint of self promotion there?

    Self promotion is not prohibited.
If you're going to quote the rules quote them correctly and fully.

"DO include a link to an external source when it’s relevant to the thread topic. Remember that it’s ultimately down to the moderators to decide whether your link is relevant or not."

    I repeat, again;
I can find no rule which prohibits members from posting links to articles they've written.

    "Don't Self-Promote"

As I asked previously, but you decided not to answer,

Don't you think there is a hint of self promotion in the fact that when someone asks for a recommendation for a patent attorney, a patent attorney wants to post a link to an article they wrote about patent attorneys?

Lets say someone wants a recommendation for a host, once we start letting hosts post links to their own sites the floodgates will open.

Why is it a futile exercise, what have I posted that hasn't been rational?

In my opinion, if someone asked for a recommendation for a service and someone who provided that service then posted a link to an article about finding someone who provides the service, I would consider that self-promotion.
