Hi

I haven't been here for a while, hope I'll be able to be more active and contribute on this great site in future. For now I'll be very grateful if you could help. Please.... :)

I've been helping my 22 yr old son starting a new business in online party supplies & gifts. So far we haven't bought too much stock, so to avoid expensive mistakes (which we can't afford), I'd be very grateful if you could answer these questions:-

1. Would you say that generally most parents prefer to have their kids parties at play centres/hall, etc, with younger kids (up to age 4?) have parties at home?

2. If you have your kids parties at home, what would you buy in terms of party supplies & decorations?

3. If you have your kids parties at play centres/hall, what would you buy in terms of party supplies & decorations?

4. How much would you spend on party bags? And what type of things would you want to include in them?

5. Would you buy your party supplies online, party shop or market?

6. Would you spend £15-20 each to send someone baloons & gift in a box?

7. Would you spend £20-35 each for chocolate/candy bouquets as a gift or decoration?

Thanks everyone! Your opinions would really help my Son setting up his little business!

1, I think that is probably about right for most people, but as always, it depends on the parents and how deep their pockets are. Some people don't want a large number of kids of any age running around their home.

2, The usual. Streamers, party poppers, banners, balloons, paper plates and cups, things to fill party bags etc etc.

3, The same.

4, I wouldn't want to spend more than £5 tops on a party bag. Sweets, balloons, one of those miniature whoopee cushions and things like that. Probably have different bags for girls and boys if I could.

5, In all honesty, I would probably got to my local Asda as they seem to have most things covered. I'd only look online or in a party shop if I was looking for something unusual or quite specialised.

6, Depends on what the gift was I suppose.

7, Not sure what a candy/chocolate bouquet is, but they sound expensive!:D

1. Would you say that generally most parents prefer to have their kids parties at play centres/hall, etc, with younger kids (up to age 4?) have parties at home?

In my experience this is a mixed bag, with some parents opting to have organised kids parties where everything is done for them.

2. If you have your kids parties at home, what would you buy in terms of party supplies & decorations?

Hats, Balloons, Banners, Cake, Food, Drinks, Candles, Games, Party Bags and the contents of the party bags.

3. If you have your kids parties at play centres/hall, what would you buy in terms of party supplies & decorations?

See above.

4. How much would you spend on party bags? And what type of things would you want to include in them?

Small toys, maybe a party bag of sweets, stationary (depending on age), badges, kids jewellery (for girls)

5. Would you buy your party supplies online, party shop or market?

Yes, provided the price is right.

6. Would you spend £15-20 each to send someone baloons & gift in a box?

Yes - I have done this previously. In fact, I paid £30 for a balloon bouquet.

7. Would you spend £20-35 each for chocolate/candy bouquets as a gift or decoration?

Probably at the lower end - around 20 - 25

Hope this helps!

1. I do all parties at home
2. Banners/balloons/cake decorating equipment/other decorations/candles/themed stuff
3. n/a
4. £1.20 per pack and then choose the fillings myself at the supermarket
5. I work from home (online only) alot of people ring and ask if i have a shop - But people seem happy to shop online.
6 & 7. Dependents on the occassion and what the gift was - If it was a handmade chocolate number or something useful for say my mums birthday then probably - But i like shopping for presents myself.

Whats your website? I actually run a party website but Im looking to sell - let me know if you have any other questions

Thanks for your replies.

@gemd89: site isn't finished yet but maybe you have any advice for us? The address is www dot funtasticpartyshop dot com. Why are you selling by the way? Would you pm me the details?

@helena1588: thanks for your feedback but am afraid I can't just give you information about our wholesalers. It took us a few months of research to find them, then cross-checking their prices for each item one by one. Very tidious job but had to be done. Good luck with your venture too.

Hey we recommend you one special gifts for children(ages not limited) that make their own photo insert cards. Two cards riveted together with personal information and the child's own photo. This is a very intresting gift and mostly children would like them. The cards will work as tag of school bag and other bags. Please send me email for futher information, not included in our company website yet now.
