I set up as a sole trader circa 2006. Approx 3 years later I took on a partner in the business. We have no written partnership agreement. Our main business is a contract for our services with a local hotel. THis is work that I originally undertook on my own.
We now disagree on how we should fulfil that contract in terms of working hours. I suspect my partner now wants out and would like to pursue a separate working arrangement with the hotel and , in effect, dissolve the partnership's contract with the hotel. Given that it was me who established the business including the original contract with the hotel where do I stand with this? We have no liabilities, are not operating at a loss and I do not envisage any dispute over our shared assets (it would all split 50/50) - but it is the value of the hotel contract that concerns me and whether my partner can finish the contract without my agreement. I feel that I need to seek the advice of a solicitor but cannot really afford to and wonder what other actions I could take now to 'fire a warning shot' for want of a better term.
