Parcel Price Comparison Website

Totally agree with Kevin's view above. We have a contract with Parcelforce, but that's for a particular type of parcels (weighing 20kg). Using their contract tariff on our other types of parcels (eg. 160 g) isn't sensible at all - the delivery cost is more than my parcel value. So I have been looking for other courier companies for a while now. Getting quote, writing to them, and waiting. Quite time consuming and still no result yet. If we have a website like OP described, we will save a lot of time.

Also, I went to that comparcel mentioned in earlier post. The information is not accurate! I got a quote of £2.50 of Hermes. Then I clicked Buy this. What happened? Being directed to Hermes, then the price turned into the normal one: £4.20. 68% higher of that website's quote. I think that site needs updating.

I look forward to Kevin's project launch.

We have now released a new version of comparcel in beta. I hope you find it more accurate :)

Hi Jeff,

InPost is given as an option on P4D, but when you get to the results page you have to click the button which says 'View available options' at the top right next to "Would you prefer to DROP OFF your parcel? There are 8 options available from £2.99". Not the easiest to find, I'll agree!

I did that, but I didn't scroll down to see the InPost option. I've now been back to the site and found it.

I'm not sure I understood the next part. Do you mean UPS drop off via P2G was listed as 70p more expensive on comparcel than on P2G itself? If so, that's not the case. Prices on comparcel include VAT (unless you untick 'Include VAT' on the calculator). Perhaps that's what you saw?

No, when I clicked through to the P4D site I saw the same service (UPS drop off) on their (the P4D site) that I often book through Parcel2G. It costs me £6.49 on the P2G site and would cost me £6.99 on the P4D site (I know, that's 50p not 70p, I thought I paid £6.30 on P2G, just checked, its £6.49) To be fair, on closer inspection, you quote those costs on your site.

Sorry for any confusion!

As the originator of this thread I just wanted to update here that my own price comparison website development will not be ready until 2015 as I have been kept busy on e-consultancy work.

I had no idea that Luke at comparcel had been developing for a few years and clearly he has come to market first, which is 100% fine by me as I am just happy that the concept that I had has clearly been shared by another and that it now exists. Well done Luke.

So, I support Luke and his team and will start to use his website myself and suggest others do also.

Hi Matthew,

Actually I suspended the software work when I discovered that Luke at Comparcel was ahead of me on bringing the concept to market.

I spoke to Luke some time ago now and we have agreed to work with each other on this - Luke delivering on the software/platform/partners and myself involved in the logistics/distribution side to include my own £2.99 USA tracked small parcel service - eTail-USA as one of the service options.

Luke - would you update us all via this thread on your progress as given the number of views and the fact that the topic is around 1 year old now and keeps coming back, there is clearly plenty of interest.

Kevin
