Had 4 deliveries today. RM and 3 couriers. That can’t be efficient.

What I want is every courier to get organised so one man and a van delivers the whole lot rather than me waiting for 4 different slots throughout the day.
It actually make a considerable amount of sense when you understand what is being taken off the road

Lets take your industrial estate and all the housing developments and business in that postcode .
In your postcode there would be only around 6 - 10 vans in a day for all the courier companies and RM. each doing around 70 - 150 drops per day .

Now consider that without them all those customers would be out on the road in the cars buying stuff. Couriers delivering in new euro 6 vans or even electric is in the "Save Greta Thunberg zone "
It appears to be wrong when everybody turns up in a day but that is literally just everybody

I would say that this is the route cause of all the problems . There is not enough money in the industry to provide a quality service .

We cant have an efficient overnight parcel network system and cheap prices at the same time !
You have got it one Jeremy. If someone is offering delivery for £3.50, think of the steps in the process and ask yourself what quality of service am i likely to receive? Also with these cheap services, try to actually get hold of somebody BEFORE sending a parcel. That will give you a good indication of what you will be up against when something goes wrong.

Couriers are the bane of our life. I don't understand how their terms and conditions can get them off when they break / lose things. We know they have it, it gets lost, but the first £xxx isn't claimable etc.

We're now looking at moving as many deliveries as possible in house having gone through all the oversize couriers out there.

My ranking of best to worst:

TNT by far the best (who unfortunately won't do it anymore), then the rest are all varying degrees of bad to very bad - Tuffnells, DX, Hermes, Panther etc etc

Every company has its faults - look at the broader picture. Earlier in this thread I whinged about DHL not delivering a parcel to Morocco. Sent a consignment on Tuesday to Russia - arrived today. Cannot complain about that.
Not one of them is going to be plain sailing
A lot of the stuff will be handled by sub contractors in the destination country. So it will depend on the quality of the sub contractors.
