P45 Question

Hi. On my P45, the box 7 figures (Total pay to date and Total tax to date) are different to the box 8 figures (Total pay in this employment and Total tax in this employment).

Which figures go into my tax return for the year?

Is it right that the Total pay to date figure is larger than the Total pay in this employment figure?

You don't usually use P45 figures on your tax return. You use P60.

It is possible to use P45 for the personal tax return. If the last employment in the tax year finished before 5th April, there will be no P60 and in this case the last P45 is taken.

Quite possibly, e.g., if you had another job in the same tax year.

That's why one says "this employment" and one doesn't
