P14 forms and P35

Hi folks,

in the process of filling out a P35 (a very late P35 )

in part 5, the declaration makes comment on P14 forms (end of year summary). well I haven't done these either, can't find the templates on the HMRC website and don't know if i have to even fill them out as i only had two employees

1. myself - whose income was lower than any tax or NI amount
2. an apprentice whose income was below any tax or NI amounts

i'm struggling to find the right information, but want to sort out the P35 so I can get my CIS money back

any advice, help or general thoughts would really be appreciated, this forums users have always been a great help so fingers crossed this little minefield will be relatively painless

The forms P14 are the same as a form P60 - for reasons known only to itself the Revenue gives different numbers to the different copies.

You have to complete a P14/P60 for any employee where the pay in the year at any time (even in one week) exceeded the "Lower Earnings Limit" for NI. That's £95 per week this year (don't have last year tables to hand), but you don't actually pay NI until you reach £110. I presume that you are a director and you should be paying yourself in this bracket to maintain your NI contribution record

I haven't used the Revenue software for some time (thankfully) but completing the P14s/P60s wasn't a problem and just fitted in as part of the process
