Hi all
I just had a query regarding p11d expenses which I would appreciate some clarification on.
My company paid my professional subscription last year and this was included on my p11d. After submitting my p11d my tax code was changed to reflect this payment and as such I ended up paying tax on it.
Hmrc said I could claim a deduction via my SA return but I don't see how as:
- you include the benefit amount in the benefits section
- claim it as a business expense
- net effect on SA return is nil but i've still paid tax via my tax code
I'm a little confused as to how this is tax free benefit....could somebody please clarify??!!
