Is it possible to get a bookkeeper or an accountant in a different country?

I think it would work out a lot cheaper.

I will still use my UK accountant for UK advice and summit bank statements to HMRC. He can protect me against any pit falls

I need someone to type in my bank statements onto a software so then I can see my financial statement. This would help me manage my cashflow better.

Sorry for the late reply.

Yes it is. Obviously you will need to scan all your docs and email over but it doesn't necessarily have to be abroad. There are some good UK based outsourcing companies.

Thanks Chuckles : ) Where would I find these UK book keeping outsourcing companies?

The OP seems happy to pay for accountancy advice, just not high fees for basic tasks!

That is exactly it ; )

Hi Ken

There are a lot of Virtual Assistants in the UK who do bookkeeping (myself included) - more expensive than outsourcing abroad I know, but they are held to much more stringent rules - have to be on the money laundering register with HMRC and most will also be registered for Data Protection.

Receipts can be emailed, scanned and uploaded to a shared space such as Dropbox (I use this with my clients), or even posted via Royal Mail for the bookkeeper to to the work within the accounting system of your choice. A lot of us use online software such as Xero, Kashflow and Quickfile, but there are a host of other accounting software programmes available.

The good thing about using a UK based VA/bookkeeper is that they know the current rules/regulations for keeping records and are able to help in more ways than just entering receipts - raising invoices, chasing outstanding invoices, completing VAT returns etc. All within the same time zone, with English as a first language and also on the same cultural level (can be important so that instructions are not misinterpreted).

Just Google bookkeeping (or secretarial) services or visit https://app.smartsheet.com/b/publish?EQBCT=52d796d61fde48a7a2de6cc08fcba99c for a list approved by the Society of Virtaual Assistants.

Yes, you can hire bookkeepers/accountants from India or in the Philippines - and YES they are a lot cheaper than hiring onshore.

With regards to quality of work, they can always provide excellent results with minimal supervision even if they are tagged as "cheap" accountants.

Just choose which freelancing site you think is more capable of providing you the best person to handle on this task. A couple of online marketplaces that you can go to are the following:
1. Upwork
2. Freelancer
3. Guru
4 Or if you are country specific, go for Staff.com and Onlinejobs.ph

Check this out if you need a guide on how to hire an offshore staff.
