osCommerce coding help - display top-level products

I have an oscommerce website which is based on a duplicate of my main business site.

My main site has lots of products and 6 different categories. On my new site I only have 5 different products.

This means I can do away with the categories and go direct to the product from the homepage.

When I add a product to the top-level though it doesn't show on the frontend on the shop - it only lists categories.

I'm guessing because the initial shop wasn't designed in this way then the code has been deleted or commented out.

Can someone tell me which file controls the category/product list and also any links/help on getting it to display products?

Thanks

Thanks for the help everyone.

I have been thinking about it over the last few days and I think I am going to keep the categories. I can use them to show some installation instructions as well as help with SEO. I can always change it in the future if it is causing a problem.
