Organic Certification

Hi All,

I'm looking for some help with organic certification. I'll be storing and distributing pre-packaged organic food products. I've sent my application off to the soil association and am waiting on an inspection date.

Has anybody been through this? Any guidance with regards to record keeping would be appreciated.

Thanks again,
Alex

Excuse my ignorance but do you actually need to be certified yourself if you are only selling prepacked certified organic food? What happens when the manufacture uses a different organic certifying body to certify the food, how does that effect your Soil association certification?
How do Supermarkets and even corner shops manage to sell certified organic food, i would be surprised if they are individually certified? This sounds like unnecessary pointless double certification to me. I can understand why you would need to be certified for non prepacked goods but not prepacked.

For you to maintain your organic licence, you must legally be inspected once every calendar year. This does not need to be in the same month every year and will often change from year to year. We have inspectors based all over the UK and they all manage their own diaries. One of them will get in contact with you directly to book in a date that is suitable for everyone. The inspector will then inform the Soil Association office of the date and the office will be able to provide support leading up to, and following, the inspection.

Organic certification. You must be certified by one of the organic control bodies if you produce or prepare organic food and you want to sell or label it as organic. You can decide which body to register with based on your location and needs.

Not sure if you are just reselling it, you need certification
