Hello I’m Nathan,
I started a roofing company earlier this year. Work flow has been fairly good and I have been busy,

BUT,
this is where your opinions come in.
I am trying to start a whole new design concept with GRP/ fibreglass systems eg flat roofing, wet rooms, swimming pools and so on.
This is a transparent system which allows all my clients to choose what there product will look like, for example you could have a fish pond on your flat roof instead of one solid colour. And this is the same for wet rooms and pools I can offer any image/ visual effect desired as a final finish result.

Now.. I haven’t had one of these services come my way as of yet, I’m still being asked to quote for a solid colour. Literally I haven’t even priced a designer service, when I mention it to my clients they seem to like the idea but never take the leap to have a quote written for that particular service.

I just want to no what the general public think, all criticism is welcome and strongly appreciated.

Thanks
Nathan

If you've had interest, why not when providing your quotation for a "standard" unit quote for the upgrade too...

give the customer the choice, rather than having them thinking it's going to be more expensive if we go with that so let's stick to what we want...

if the difference isn't all that much, then I doubt you'll see much friction.

I can see shower rooms and fish ponds working well, it's a good idea.

Flat roofs no one cares, as long as they look smart around the edges and come with a guarantee that's all people care about. People are very cautious with their homes, it's a big investment and they won't rock the boat with something funky. Offering it does show you as a market leader, as long as it isn't pitched as gimmicky or tacky.

This is a good point, if I take away the fear of it being to expensive then people may consider the designer service.

Sell the sizzle.

I cannot visualise what you are offering. So create some ideas and photograph them - sell the visual.

Perhaps have samples of materials.
Sorry if I haven’t explained to great! I have made a sample flat roof and in the process of making a sample pool.
I can show you I’m just unsure how to add a photo.

Thank you,
I have been saying since I started this business that wet rooms, pools and floors are the ones that will kick this off.
If I’m honest I’m cautious as I have been a roofer for past 8years, although I specialise in GRP/ fibreglass fabrication it’s more the selling concept and taking a leap in a whole new market.
