I receive quite an amount of email marketing from two large companies I've previously purchased from. I have unsubscribed to both and the emails stop, but after a couple of months they start again. I could just write a rule to send them all to my junk folder but it irritates me that I would have to do this when I have already unsubscribed. So I just unsubscribe again and it stops for a few months, etc. etc..

I'm meticulous with my email marketing and removing unsubscribers because I thought it was a serious breach of GDPR (or something) if you didn't. Am I wrong? Can companies re-subscribe you without permission?

Phone them up and ask to speak to their data controller - sounds like you are unsubscribing from a campaign or list rather than all mail. You do have the right to have your email address permanently removed.

Has anyone had any results with the ICO? Do they have any teeth? Are they a deterrent or a meaningless quango.
A few years ago I kept receiving emails from Jobzooma despite me telling them to remove me.

I complained to ICO, and submitted evidence.

After a while ICO picked my case up, they sent a warning to Jobzooma, emails stopped.

So yes it worked for me.

You could be lucky, like me, where a T-shirt style (name taken from old advert on out of date website) has today been invited to attend an awards ceremony...

I posted on here a couple of years back as this bunch of spam heads -A1 Global Media Ltd don't understand UNSUBSCRIBE...

Hello *Sucker (*names altered to protect innocent party)

I just wanted to get in touch with you today with some exciting news.

I'm pleased to announce that *Crew Neck T-shirt has received an official nomination, submitted by the team at SME News, in the prestigious UK Enterprise Awards!

I'm thinking of replying, taking a table at the awards ceremony for 3 Polo's 2 Sweatshirts, 4 pairs of Joggers and a set of underpants!;)
