opinions on web 2.0 logo & name

hey, can I have your opinions on colour and name of the logos for my Web 2.0 site?

Which name do you like skillivity or skillicious? what about the colours? Do you recommend something else?

its almost web 2.0 but the splat doesnt look very great and web2.0 keep to very few colours, your gradient differs to much with the green to blue should be blue to light blue etc.

it's a site for skills and creativity

Whats almost web 2? Do you mean modern looking? The colours need experimenting with don't use more than 3, simple design is better for a logo. Skillivity sounds better to me the other sounds a bit girly.

I think the problem is the splatter, it doesn't really go. But if you have to have it, why not try it one colour - the gradient isn't really working.

Nice idea however just a thought: when the next buzz word pops along your site and brand will look dated ?

skillicious does not work because I think it is meant to be a play on delicious which is spelt with only one L so when I read your name I thought it was skilly-i-tious which sounds daft.

I don't know what the tube thing is on the second logo and the name makes little sense and does not trip off the tongue.

You have yourself an uphill branding excercise on your hands there.

Try the splat with no gradient and a few highlights round the edges instead. The latest colour skeme doesn't work. Try sky blue, orange , pinkish red you will have to play with the tones till they match. You could try two complimentary colours and a black if it must be three colour.
