Opinions on internet clothes retailing?

Whats everyones opinion on this?
2 or 3 years ago i never used it as it was impossible to try on garments, but recently i've used it loads. It's like shopping in your local department store from the comfort of your sofa isn't it? ori s it just a pain and more often than not you recieve your item and find it does'nt fit and have to send it back?
What's your opinion?

I do most of my clothes shopping online and have done for a few years now. If you're 'catalouge size' then most things fit fine. Far better being able to buy clothes that other people aren't likely to have from independant shops than get the same uniform as others from places like Next. Usually the smaller the business the faster you get it. I ordered some trainers a few days before Christmas the other year not expecting them to turn up til the New Year and was amazed when they turned up before Christmas Day. ASOS sales are quite good as you can get shirts and trousers for around a tenner.

Yeah, but it's just easier to buy 2-3 different sizes, then you can try them at home, and return the ones you don't need.

ASOS seem to be doing OK with it and Amazon have done well in the US by selling clothing on-line? I think in the UK a lot of people still prefer to shop in real stores but the tide is slowly turning?

I bought some boots on-line a while ago and almost expected them not to fit, due to the US/UK size confusion, but I was pleasantly surprised?

I think the biggest problem is with delivery, you either need to be at home all day or live next door to someone who is. I'm surprised no one has addressed this problem as yet?

? why not just have it delivered to the address you will be at during the day ie work address for most people, vast majority of my customers have items shipped to their work address these days, its easier as there is usually someone there to sign for it.

It has been already, for a small fee you can have your parcel sent to your local post office where you can collect it when you wish too.

Personally I'd rather go to a retail shop than buy online, simply because I can try it on so I know if it fits. Thats not to say though that all clothes shoppers are like that. Maybe you could do some highstreet surveys to see if people would ever convert to online shopping.

For me if you could somehow offer a way to reduce the risk of ordering the wrong size. I mean if it just says S, M, L, XL how do I know how each size comes up. Maybe chest sizes or some other home made personalised size recommendations would cure my type of shoppers fears. This should then inturn cure the returns problems.

I haven't tried buying clothes online. But i tried buying some of my accessories and other stuffs online and i have no problems in shipping.

I prefer buying clothes from a place that provides a good personal service, where I can pick the clothes up and try them on, get them tailored if need be - Slaters Menswear are my favourite, you just can't replicate that human touch of good service through a website for some types of products.

Most other goods I'll use the Internet every time

online shopping is much more convenient but just make sure the the shop is legitimate and all so everything goes well
